MONDAY:
I was walking over to my roommates ultimate frisbee game with another roommate and we saw this guy sunbathing on the rocks. He was so fat and close! We both shrieked and the poor guy hid in this rock. Maybe it was a rock chuck?

SATURDAY: So this weekend I went to Pocatello to take Emma Andrew's bridals. It was my first time ever shooting for someone's bridals, but I think it went really well! Emma and her mother are a blast to work with.

I was talking to my friends at the security desk and I met Armando. He was really excited to have his picture taken and even volunteered.

I found a very interesting old car close to my apartment complex. It's baby blue color combined with the orange rust made for some fun color contrast.

Tuesday:
I had to redeem myself a little bit after the portraits I turned in for class. So I decided to practice. I loved the color harmony in this particular photo.

I love that no one worries about locking or chaining anything in Rexburg. It's probably not that safe considering how tempted I was to take this bicycle with a basket for a ride.

So this isn't all that artistic, but it was definitely the most entertaining picture of the day! Library week at the David O' Mckay is a special time. As you can see, some of my co-workers are more confident than others.

For the next few weeks I will be taking a photo everday and posting it here for my Color Photography class. I have always wanted to try the 365 challenge; so hopefully this will give me the kick I need to get started.

Sierra is a Senior

It must be tradition to let the older sister take the younger siblings senior portraits. I was lucky enough to have Tina who took mine, and now I get to take Sierras! Sierra wanted the old building look for her portraits so we took a stroll down Old Town Pocatello. We didn't have to go far. I was delighted with every crumbling wall and building we came upon! Old town is full of potential or (depending how you look at it) junk and creepy alley ways. Regardless of your preferred jargon, the quick shoot was a successful trip.

For those of you who are interested, there is a quick explanation of my edits underneath each photo.

In Photoshop I adjusted the contrast, saturation, light, brightness, and clarity, but I wanted the focus to be more on Sierra. The image had nice composition but was a little flat. I really wanted to give it a circular feel, with the first thing you look at is Sierra, then the graffiti, and then back to Sierra. To accomplish this I decided to paint a fairly heavy vignette with the brush tool using a low opacity.

For this photo I did a few basic edits in Camera Raw. (Namely contrast, saturation, clarity, lighting) I then opened the image in Photoshop where I placed another image on top. It's just a shot of dry grass, but it gives a nice texture when you lower the opacity. I then used the brush tool with 100 percent opacity to make Sierra sharp.

Basic edits in Camera Raw. (Mostly contrast and saturation) In Photoshop I gave the photo a few more touches with lighting, and contrast, but I also gave it a very soft vignette using the brush tool. The last thing I did was bring down the Saturation to give the photo a little older but classic look.

I brought the saturation up in Camera Raw but the blue walls were not popping as much as I wanted them too. On the other hand Sierra's jeans were turning way to blue. So to fix the problem I selected her jeans in Photoshop, inversed my selection which then allowed me to adjust the saturation of just the blue walls.


For this image, I simply made it black and white under Images-Adjustments- Black and White. From there I was able to adjust with the selection of colored sliders.

More to Come

This blog was created to display my assignments for Digital Imaging. Sadly the class is over, but my work is just beginning. I intend to make this my official photography blog so expect to see more work on the way. I just shot my little sister's senior portraits, so that will be up very soon!
Thank you to everyone who has supported me! I never would have thought that I could grow this much but here I am, and there is so much more to come, I cant wait!

In camera Raw I adjusted the usual. Levels, clarity, contrast, and sats. The saturation really made her red hair and blue eyes pop which I love. Then in Photoshop I got a little carried away with the brush tool. I painted out her blemishes and also the slight bags under her eyes with a lower opacity. Her lips then looked a little pale (probably from the cold!) so I gave them a bit more color with the brush tool as well.

I liked this portrait but it was a bit overexposed. I shot a lot of my shots in RAW so the mistake was pretty easy to correct in camera RAW. I adjusted the brightness, levels, clarity, contrast, and saturation. I then also decided the crop the picture. I then brought it into Photoshop and used the brush tool to even out some of her skin tone and a few spots of her eye makeup. I made the mistake of not focusing on her eyes when I took the shot, so I selected them in Photoshop and used smart filter to take away some of the blur. I then used the brush tool with a lower opacity and went over her lips with a slightly darker pink.

The only thing I did to this photo was take it into camera raw to adjust the levels and saturation.

This shot was taken in Hotel Meade with my photogenic ghost Adam. I adjusted the photo in RAW adding a lot of contrast and lowering the brightness so I could get a creepy darker look. Then in photoshop I added a bit more saturation and selected the floor and walls just before the light in the hallway. Having made my selection I then went to Image-adjustments-exposure- and played with Offset which makes it look like the darkness is crawling from the floor up the walls.

This is my freeze shot, sadly it’s the best one I got all day. I cropped the photo slightly in Raw, adjusted the levels and contrast, and I also changed and brought down the saturation of the glove which was bright red. I found that it caught my eye and I wanted more focus to be on the snowball. The snowball
